Description

70 mm multi-coated objective lens, two eyepieces, 5x Barlow, finder scope and aluminium tripod: everything you need to see the Moon's craters, Saturn's rings and Jupiter's moons from your very first night.

The included smartphone adapter clips onto the eyepiece so you can photograph the Moon with the phone you already own. By day, the telescope doubles as a spotting scope for birds and landscapes.

What you'll see

Four sights a 70 mm objective really delivers

What a telescope of this size really shows through the eyepiece, from a garden or a balcony.

  • The Moon

Craters, mountains and seas in relief along the terminator. At 66x, it fills the eyepiece.

  • Saturn

The rings stand clearly apart from the globe from 66x, with a dark gap between the two.

  • Jupiter

Its two cloud belts and its four Galilean moons, which change position from one night to the next.

  • Clusters and nebulae

The Pleiades, the Orion Nebula and the great star fields at 20x, under a dark country sky.

Optics

70 mm of light, a fully multi-coated lens

The objective's diameter matters most: at 70 mm, the telescope gathers a hundred times more light than your eye. The broadband multi-coating limits internal reflections and keeps the contrast, where an uncoated lens washes out the image.

  • 400 mm focal length, f/5.7: a wide, bright field, ideal for beginners
  • Metal tube, lens cap and diagonal for observing without straining your neck
  • Finder scope mounted on the tube to point at a planet in seconds

Photograph the Moon with the phone you already have

The included smartphone adapter clamps onto the eyepiece: you frame on the screen, press the shutter, and share your first crater photo that same night. By day, the same clamp turns the telescope into a spotting scope for birds and landscapes.

  • Clamp adapter included, no app or cable
  • Terrestrial viewing at 20x for wildlife, the sea or the mountains
  • Aluminium tripod adjustable from 43 to 130 cm, at a child's or an adult's height
Magnification

From 20x to 333x: which one to choose, and when

Magnification is simple to work out: the telescope's focal length (400 mm) divided by the eyepiece's. The included 5x Barlow multiplies the result. Beyond about 140x, the image from a 70 mm telescope gets darker and depends heavily on how steady the air is; keep high magnifications for the Moon and the planets on calm nights.

Always start at 20x to find your target, then move to 66x. These are the two settings you will use for 90% of your nights.

Your first night

Ready in ten minutes, Saturn within the hour

The six steps of the very first time.

  1. Set up the tripod

At a comfortable height: seated for a child, standing for an adult. Tighten the screws by hand, without forcing.

  2. Fit the diagonal and the 20 mm eyepiece

Remove the lens cap. Keep the 6 mm eyepiece and the Barlow for later.

  3. Align the finder, in daylight

Aim at a distant steeple or pole: what sits in the centre of the eyepiece must also sit in the centre of the finder. Two minutes, done once.

  4. Take the telescope out 15 minutes early

The optics settle to the air temperature and the image gets sharper.

  5. Start with the Moon

Centre it in the finder, then turn the focus knob until the craters are sharp. That is the moment everyone says "oh".

  6. Move to 66x, then to the planets

The 6 mm eyepiece for detail. Saturn and Jupiter are the two brightest points that do not twinkle.

Never point the telescope at the Sun, even for a second: irreversible blindness. Store it with the cap on during the day, out of children's reach.

Frequently asked questions

Before you order

Another question? Write to us at [email protected], we reply within 24 h.

Is it a good first telescope for a child or an adult beginner?

Yes, that is exactly what it is made for: a refractor sets up in minutes, needs no maintenance and points at the Moon or a planet without any software. The tripod goes down to 43 cm for a child and up to 130 cm for a standing adult.

Will I really see Saturn's rings?

Yes, with the 6 mm eyepiece (66x) the rings stand clearly apart from the globe. Saturn stays small in the eyepiece, as with any instrument of this diameter, but you recognise it at first glance.

Why isn't 333x the setting to use every night?

The more you magnify, the darker the image gets and the more air turbulence shows. With 70 mm optics, comfortable magnification is between 20x and 140x. 333x is there for the Moon under very steady skies; we would rather tell you before you buy.

Is it dangerous for the eyes?

Only if you aim at the Sun: never point the telescope at the Sun, even through a cloud, even for a second, the risk is irreversible blindness. The night sky, the Moon and the planets are perfectly safe. A child observes with an adult, and the telescope is stored with its lens cap on during the day.

Can I use it in town, from a balcony?

The Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and Venus are bright enough to observe from a lit-up town. Nebulae and clusters need a darker sky, in the countryside or by the sea.

Why not a €60 telescope from a supermarket?

At that price the optics are usually uncoated, there is a single eyepiece and the tripod is plastic: the image is washed out and the instrument shakes at the slightest touch. Here the objective is multi-coated, you get two eyepieces and a Barlow, an aluminium tripod adjustable from 43 to 130 cm, a smartphone adapter, customer service that replies within 24 h and 14 days to change your mind.

How do delivery and returns work?

The telescope is shipped from France. Free delivery in 6 to 10 working days, with a tracking number sent by email. You have 14 days from receipt to change your mind, without giving a reason; return costs are yours to bear. If the parcel arrives damaged or gets lost, you are refunded.
